Inherit the Earth
From rte 195 between
Mansfield and Storrs turn into the Old Town Hall / Historical Society
opposite Spring Hill Rd.
At the rear of the Parking lot the sign
marks your start. Pick up trail and take the abandoned town road to the
right. Pass the tree house long vacated. Long ago
farmers stacked walls to form a corner here. Onward into the depth
of woods play dot to dot as you walk. Stay with the blue.
cross a corduroy bridge then a plank one too. Through the weeds to a
T . On the right we go , we're close now . HOLD CHILDREN'S HANDS AT
APPROACH TO CLIFF IT'S HUGE!
Enjoy the view you have to
drive all the way to Vermont to find a better one!
Now the search: from the charred
remains at the top of the cliff go due north 35 paces. Set your
course 40 degrees now and step off 24 paces, to the wall. Along the wall the way
a squirrel runs go 30 paces. Stop! Up and over , down and in.
Simple right?
To return: go to
the cliff top pick up the blue dot / Nipmuc trail again and return the way
you came, or follow the trail down toward the hollow or north toward
Gurleyville. Have Fun , and remember who the earth is
for.
